Linda Nickerson, June Wynne, Connie Roupp, Joyce Roof, Carol Lane, Stephanie Olver and Linda Ferrario attended the annual convention of Alpha, Alpha State, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, recently held at the Nittany Lion Inn, State College, Pa. While the educators were there they exchanged ideas, attended workshops, attended a info fair and discussed educational issues with other key Pennsylvania women educators.
Alpha Alpha State President, Susan Stamm’s biennium theme, “Start from the Heart-Rekindle Your Passion”, urged all members to “get back to the core of our Society to understand this organization and why we became members.” She encouraged the membership to renew their passion for Delta Kappa Gamma at the State Convention. Heart Songs, the Conventions theme was promoted through the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Muriel O’Tuel, author of Footprints on the Hearts and a Delta Kappa Gamma member. Dr. Sigrun Klara Hannesdottir, International Second Vice- President from Iceland, presented a workshop on innovative chapter programs.
At the Saturday night banquet, special tribute was given to outgoing Alpha Zeta President, Joyce Roof and incoming Alpha Zeta President Linda Nickerson.
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International was founded in 1929 in Austin, Texas, by Dr. Annie Webb Blanton as a professional association of key women educators.
