Eagles Mere Friends of the Arts will present The Philadelphia Trio (Elizabeth Keller, piano; Barbara Sonies, violin; Deborah Reeder, cello) in their second concert of the current season at the David DeWire Center on Sunday, August 1, at 8 p.m. The program will include trios by Beethoven (“The Ghost”), Brahms (Trio in C minor), in addition to “Three Funny Pieces” by Shchedrin and the Trio’s traditional “potpourri” of short lighter works.
Eagles Mere Friends of the Arts is in its 36th season; the trio was the first group included in that first season. The trio has been praised for their “distinctive and new interpretations” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, and their “glorious sounds individually, and powerful statements as an ensemble” by the Washington Post. They also have received excellent reviews for their concerts in Europe, and their recordings for Centaur Records. The trio is also the main faculty for Music in the Mountains, the intensive chamber music workshop for students 13-20 which will present its annual concert at the DeWire Center on Saturday August 14, at 8 p.m.
