Air Force Airman Ryan D. Dixon.

Air Force Airman Ryan D. Dixon graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the son of David Dixon of Crosby Creek Road, Hornell, N.Y., and Marcia Dixon of W. Woodlawn Ave., Elkland, Pa.

Regan E. Rogers has entered Basic Cadet Training at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo., in preparation to enter the first academic year at the academy. The six-week, two-phased orientation program must be successfully completed by the cadets prior to entering their freshman year. The training prepares men and women to meet the rigorous mental and physical challenges experienced by new cadets.

Phase one involves personal in-processing, orientation, and training in the fundamentals of being a cadet. Cadet trainees are prepared to adjust from civilian to military life and disciplines, and learn proper wear of the uniform, saluting policies and procedures, drill and ceremony, marching, and living quarters standards.

During phase two, cadets train outdoors living in tents while learning to function in field conditions. Cadets apply and practice team work, cohesion and learn to deal with physically and mentally demanding situations. They complete the obstacle, confidence, assault, and leadership reaction courses, and participate in a rescue mission termed Operation Warrior.

She is the daughter of Seth and Bonnie Rogers of Route 287, Wellsboro, Pa.

Rogers is a 2010 graduate of Wellsboro Area High School.

Army Pvt. Katelyn L. Retorto has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

She is the daughter of Dominick Retorto III of Perrine Road, Owego, N.Y., and Joan Jones of Fox Ridge Court, Dover, Pa. The private is a 2009 graduate of Dover Area High School.

Army Pvt. Caleb Achter has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

He is the son of Diana Achter of Beach Lane, Gaines, Pa., and nephew of Tammy Green of West St., Galeton, Pa. Achter is a 2009 graduate of Galeton Area High School.

Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

He is the son of Christine Bryant of Charlie Lane, Tioga, Pa. Bryant is a 2007 graduate of Williamson High School, Tioga.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Benjamin J. Hager graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Hager earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Thomas and Rhonda Hager of Second St., Millerton, Pa. Hager is a 2009 graduate of New Covenant Academy, Mansfield, Pa.
