Tree for Life ceremony held

Bev Varner, Director of Volunteers and President of the RPH/Guthrie Auxiliary, thanks Evelyn Sandt, Administrative Coordinator, Facilities, who put forth the idea for the live planting.

The RPH/Guthrie Auxiliary held a special event on July 15 to introduce a newly landscaped area on the Sayre campus that will serve as the site for the Tree for Life display.

The Tree for Life program raises funds each year by offering opportunities to purchase strings of lights used to decorate evergreen trees placed on the Sayre campus during the month of December. The area of newly planted trees was created in response to interest expressed by a number of staff and others in finding a permanent site for the tree-lighting event.

The popular Tree for Life program benefits Guthrie Hospice and Lifeline. A number of groups helped to make this new area possible, with the Auxiliary the major contributor. For more information about the Tree for Life program, contact Bev Varner at (570) 887-4241.
