Over 200 women of all ages from the Canton/Troy and beyond areas attended either Gals Night Out I on May 4 or Gals Night Out II on May 6 at the Rialto Theatre which were super successes. Women from the area enjoyed the experiences.
Before the May experiences, the Gals Night Out event was “a one and only one night event”, but it was so popular that people had to be turned away. So, again, because of popular demand, the Rialto Theatre Advisory Board and the Rialto Theatre Staff will be offering two opportunities for the women and girls from the area to participate in the well-received events.
The next offering for all of the women in the Bradford – Lycoming – Sullivan – Tioga County area has been scheduled with “Eat Pray Love” (PG-13) starring Julia Roberts, and based on the New York Times Best Seller by Elizabeth Gilbert. The dates are Tuesday, September 21 for the showing and Gals Night Out, and September 23.
The evenings begin at 6:00 p.m. with a “special” supper pre-pared by Kelly’s Creekside Restaurant(formerly Jamie Lou’s Gourmet Cafe) in Canton. The menu includes a variety of wraps, tossed salad, fruit-ka-bobs, dessert, and beverage. The motion picture begins at 7:00 p.m. after the door prizes have been awarded.
One of the purposes of the event is to help fund the Rialto Theatre Summer Improvement Projects. Improvement Projects include the power-washing of the front of the building, which is already complete; the painting of the front of the building, which is in process; and the designing and implementing of the new Centennial Memorial Plaza (sidewalk) at the outside front of the Rialto Theatre, which is already completed.
The cost for the event is $15 per person (all ages), which includes the motion picture ticket, the special supper, and a donation to the summer improvement projects. Additionally, all of the people attending have a chance to win one of the door prizes, and will also receive a free small bag of popcorn. Reservations, which are required, will be available by phoning and / or visiting one of the following: Canton Independent-Sentinel / Troy Gazette office in Canton, (570) 673-5151; or MC Insurance office in Troy, (570) 297-2128. Reservations are also available at the Box Office of the Rialto Theatre by calling (570) 673-4444.
The 150 reservations for each evening are available on a “first come, first serve” basis. Groups of five or more with advance reservations will be seated together if they wish.
