The Endless Mountains Maple Syrup Producers Association was this years’ host

for the Annual Pennsylvania Maple Tour held Sept. 17 and 18. On Sept. 17, the association crowned Ekko Stimson as the 2010-2011 Pennsylvania Maple Sweetheart.

Ekko is from Canton and is the daughter of Chuck and Theresa Stimson. She is a senior at the Canton Jr./Sr. High School. As Queen, Ekko will attend several activities such as fairs, festivals, parades, Ag Progress Days, PA State Farm Show, and schools to educate and promote Pennsylvania Maple Syrup during her reign.

The annual tour visited six local maple syrup operations and toured three other business companies over the two-day event in Bradford County. A tubing and vacuum educational demonstration provided by Brad Gillilan from Leader Evaporator was one of Technology events offered. There were 85 people in attendance for this tour. Two maple equipment companies displayed equipment and had personnel available to educate maple producers and discuss their products.
