Meeting planned to discuss possible bridge removal over Sugar Creek

County Bridge No. 6, on Luthers Mills Road over Sugar Creek, has been deemed ‘Structurally Deficient’.

The County’s Bridge Engineer (Larson Design Group), along with PennDOT’s District Bridge Engineer (Lloyd Ayres, P.E.), posed closure and subsequent removal of the structure. The cost to the Bradford County Commissioners for repair of the structure will be $1.47 million.

PennDOT and Larson Design Group additionally find that removal of County Bridge No. 6 would reduce the risk of a dangerous intersection at the junction of Route 6 and Luthers Mills Road.

The County Commissioners are in the preliminary development stage of this project, and are seeking input from the community.

The Burlington Township Supervisors have offered to host a meeting so residents can express their concerns or needs to the Bradford County Commissioners, Larson Design Group and PennDOT.

The meeting will be held at the Township Shop at 2030 Weed Hill Rd. in Towanda, Pa. on June 14, at 6 p.m.
