Dr. Robert K. Lambert, president and CEO of Arnot Health for the past five years, has recently retired, according to a statement issued today by Don Quick, chairman of the Arnot Health Board of Trustees.
“After much consideration, Dr. Lambert informed the board last month that he would be retiring on June 25 to spend more time with family and pursue his many personal interests,” Quick said. “We extend our profound appreciation for his many contributions during his tenure and wish him the best in his retirement.”
Dr. Lambert’s long and prominent career is distinguished by his commitment to the greater Elmira community as a skilled physician over more than three decades, and more recently, as an accomplished organizational leader.
Quick also announced that after assessing the future leadership needs of the system in consultation with colleagues at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC), the board had chosen Jonathan Lawrence, MHA, FACHE, to lead the next phase of Arnot Health’s evolution as a health system.
“As Arnot Health’s new President and CEO, Lawrence will be working to ensure that residents of the Twin Tiers have continued access to leading quality healthcare and service,” Quick said.
Lawrence, who has served as the system’s chief operating officer since April 2017, brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, including two previous hospital CEO appointments, to his new role.
“I am grateful to the board, Dr. Lambert, our leadership team, and so many others across the organization for their expressed confidence and support,” Lawrence said. “All of us at Arnot Health are deeply satisfied to see the many improvements that have come from our focused efforts to ensure the highest levels of patient satisfaction and quality of care. As I begin this new role I am committed to building upon this success in a manner that continues to earn the confidence of our patients, inspires our providers and staff, and ensures a bright, sustainable future for Arnot Health.”
