DUI: Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda have charged Shawn Alan Waibel, 48, of Waverly, New York with driving under the influence following a traffic stop that was initiated at 12:55 a.m. on Aug. 12 on N. Lehigh Avenue in Sayre Borough.

Police state that a traffic stop was initiated on Waibel’s 2000 Ford F350 as he was seen violently striking a curb and traveling in-and-out of his lane of travel several times. After making contact with Waibel, police detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. Waibel told police that he consumed alcohol prior to driving. He performed a battery of standardized field sobriety where he showed signs of impairment. A chemical blood draw was performed at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital where Waibel’s blood alcohol concentration was determined to be 0.16-percent.

He is slated to appear before Magisterial District Judge Todd Carr on Oct. 5 for his preliminary hearing, court documents show.

Milan man charged with insurance fraud: The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General has charged Michael P. Vandyke, 40, of Milan with felony counts of insurance fraud and theft by deception following an incident that occurred on Aug. 20 in Ulster Township.

According to the office of Attorney General, Vandyke worked under-the-table was a truck driver while on long-term disability.

Vandyke was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Todd Carr and was released on a $10,000 unsecured bail. He is slated to appear before Carr on Sept. 4 for his preliminary hearing, court documents show.

Terry Twp. man charged in providing minors with alcohol: Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda have charged Zachary Allen Moon, 21, of Terry Township with corruption of minors and furnishing alcohol to a minor following an incident that occurred at 4:10 p.m. on Aug. 26.

Police state that Moon provided four minors, including two juveniles, with alcohol at his place of residence.

Towanda man resists arrest: Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda have charged Roderick Purl Otis, 68, of Towanda with resisting arrest and harassment following an incident that occurred at 7 p.m. on July 30 at a residence on Strope Road in Burlington Township.

According to police, during an argument, Otis struck a juvenile victim in the head with a bedroom door. As police attempted to place Otis in custody, he pulled away and continuously resisted. Police took Otis to the group and attempted to place him in handcuffs, and he refused to comply with commands.

Otis is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Todd Carr on Oct. 10 for his preliminary hearing, according to court documents.

Camper damaged: Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda have reported a criminal mischief that occurred between Aug. 20 and Aug. 26 at a residence on State Route 187 in Wysox Township.

Police state that an unknown actor or actors caused damage to the victim’s camper. Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda at (570) 265-2186.

Sugar Run man charged with PFA violation: Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda have charged Justin Lee Moon, 23, of Sugar Run with a protection from abuse violation following an incident that occurred at 7:57 p.m. on Aug. 7 at the Wyalusing Fireman’s Carnival in Wyalusing Borough.

According to police, Moon violated a protection from abuse and was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Wilcox. He was remanded to the Bradford County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 bail.
