HOLIDAY CLOSURES

The Bradford County Library will be open until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31. The Library will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, and will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 8 a.m.

The Pennsylvania Careerlink Bradford/Sullivan counties will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019 in observance of New Year’s Day. The office will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.

The Towanda Public Library and Carriage House Children’s Library will close at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31 New Year’s Eve and close all day on Tuesday, Jan. 1 New Year’s Day. Both libraries will reopen at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Mather Memorial Library in Ulster will be closed during the holidays Tuesday, Jan.1, 2019. The library will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. only on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018. 

The T.A.C.O. Food Pantry will be closed until Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019 for the Christmas and New Year’s holiday. The pantry will reopen at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019. T.A.C.O. is normally open from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and serves the Towanda, Northeast Bradford and Wyalusing school districts. For more information call (570) 265-4422. DECEMBER / JANUARY

Caregivers’ Support Group, sponsored by the Law Office of Leslie Wizelman and the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, will meet at noon the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at The Wellness Room, 3rd floor of the Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home in Towanda. Anyone taking care of a family member or loved one, be it at home or as a resident of a long-term care facility are welcome. Their next meeting will be on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019. 

Weekly indoor farmers markets: Local vendors offering fresh fruits, vegetables, bakery items and more will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays in November and December in the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital cafeteria.

T.A.C.O. Food Pantry will gladly accept any donation of deer meat that has been commercially processed and marked. The pantry is located at 1876 Golden Mile Rd., Wysox, Pa. 18854. T.A.C.O. is open 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday. For information, call the pantry at (570) 265-4422.

Sayre Historical Society Museum and gift shop will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays in December.

The Guitar Club at the Sayre Christian Church will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Monday at 427 S. Keystone Ave., Sayre. Beginners are encouraged to arrive at 5:30 p.m. All levels of experience welcome, as well as other stringed instruments and voices. Children are welcome with adult supervision. Recycling: Towanda Elks is accepting cans and bottles for recycling. The drop off spot is in the barbecue pit.

You Too Animal Rescue, now located behind the Towanda Creek Animal Hospital, is open to the public for adoptions from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. For adoptions by appointment, call (570) 721-0605.

The Forte Vocal Quartet will perform at the First Presbyterian Church of Troy at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Towanda Area High School Class of 1979 will have their second reunion-planning luncheon at 11:30 a.m. in the stone room at the Riverstone. All class members interested in helping plan the reunion are encouraged to attend. 

DECEMBER 30

Troy Junior Sportsmen will be hosting Sporting Clay Shoot, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Troy Rod & Gun Club, Alparon Park, Gate #3. 

JANUARY 3

The Towanda Senior Citizens will meet at noon in Ferguson Hall at the Wysox Presbyterian Church when Tom and Marie House will conduct a memorial service in honor of those club members who passed away this past year. Members are asked to bring a dish or packaged food item to share and own table service. Tea and coffee are provided. It was decided not to have a second meeting during the month of January. The Che-Hanna Rock and Mineral Club will have their next meeting 7 p.m. at the Sayre high school. (Meeting note, if the school is closed that day because of the weather, the meeting is canceled for that month.) Program will be hands-on workshops. Trish will be teaching “plastic lacing.” Inga will be doing a variety of “modern jewelry making.” Hilda will be teaching “wire-wrapping.” “Micro mounting” will be lead by Bob. The New Albany Fire Company will host a pancake supper to benefit the Charles (Chuck) Keeney Scholarship Fund at the New Albany Social Hall from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults; children 12 to five are $4.

JANUARY 17

JANUARY 18

March for Life in Washington, D.C. – Charter bus sponsored by Bradford County Pennsylvanians for Human Life will depart Athens Township at 5 a.m., and will then stop in Wysox, Wyalusing, and Tunkhannock and return that night.
