London’s National Theatre Live at The Rialto

The Holidays are over and it’s time to get into relaxation mode. The Rialto Theatre in Canton has just the answer for you.

Beginning on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 12:30 p.m., the Rialto will begin showing London’s National Theatre Live plays on the big screen and will continue every third Saturday afternoon of the month. This gives theatergoers time for an early lunch at one of Canton’s many eating venues – or an early dinner after the show.

On Jan. 19 the play will be “Allelujah,” which describes what happens when a documentary crew visits a cradle-to-the-grave hospital that has been threatened with closing due to an efficiency drive much to the unhappiness of the small community that it serves.

The crew focuses on the geriatric ward, it’s daily struggle to find beds and the triumphs of the old people’s choir.

It is a comedy written by Alan Bennett, whose plays include “The History Boys”, “The Madness of George III”, and “The Lady in the Van”.

Tickets are $10 and can be obtained at the Rialto.
