Opinion: The bookmobile needs a lift!

Dear Editor,

I don’t know whether you realize it or not but Bradford County needs a new Bookmobile. The current one is 16 years old, having been purchased in 2002. It provides service to readers in our county, from pre-schoolers to seniors unable to get to a library. In addition to 58 locations throughout the county, you may have seen it at special events such as the Troy Fair or Mt. Pisgah State Park.

The Bookmobile not only has deposit stations in a variety of locations, but also cooperates with several community libraries throughout the county and its driver, Rosemary Wynott, is a very qualified librarian.

It is expected that the new vehicle will even be handicapped accessible and while the cost of such a vehicle will be considerable, the service it offers to the people of the county will be a far more considerable value.

Anyone wishing to participate by making a donation may do that by simply sending it to the Bradford County Library at 16093 Route 6, Troy, Pa. 16947.

Your consideration will be greatly appreciated and well invested.

Very truly yours,

Howard J. Smith, Jr.

Troy, Pa.
