Winter is here and the Kiwanis Club of Sullivan County is preparing for Winterfest 2019, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16, at Camp Brule’ on Route 154 north of Forksville.

Mark your calendars to attend this amazing outdoor family event with plenty of indoor space to keep warm. Winterfest opens its gates at 7 a.m., starting the day off with an ice fishing tournament with prizes for both children and adults. Enjoy watching ice carvers perform their magic right before your eyes beginning at 10 a.m. Sled dog teams will be performing demonstrations; your child could even be lucky enough to get a sled dog ride around the lake!

Don’t miss the Polar Bear Plunge at noon, sharp. Plungers will be bringing in pledges to benefit local children while competing for prizes donated by local businesses, including two grand prizes of a cruise for two to the Bahamas or the Caribbean. Be the winning bid on amazing prizes and gift certificates at a live auction to be held directly after the plunge.

Enjoy all the free activities like the ice slide, ice-skating, sled riding, frozen fish toss, and then warm up in the 30-inch inflatable igloo. Don’t miss the scavenger hunt where four-person teams compete for cold hard cash. Pick up a treasure from the local vendors and enjoy delicious food all day long.
