Walking Program, Troy High School Gymnasium; held Monday through Friday on the days that school is in session. The gym is open from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Walk at your own pace in a safe environment. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Celebrate Recovery will be held at 6 p.m. every Friday at The Pathway Ministry Center, 105 Main St., Towanda. Celebrate Recovery is for anyone struggling with alcohol and drug issues. Please come to this totally free event. Celebrate Recovery is based on 12 steps and eight principles; learn about these important steps and principles every week. Please come if you are struggling and need support and encouragement.   

Caregivers’ Support Group, sponsored by the Law Office of Leslie Wizelman and the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, will meet at noon the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at The Wellness Room, 3rd floor of the Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital Personal Care Home in Towanda. Recycling: Towanda Elks is accepting cans and bottles for recycling. The drop off location is in the barbecue pit.

You Too Animal Rescue, now located behind the Towanda Creek Animal Hospital, is open to the public for adoptions from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. For adoptions by appointment, call (570) 721-0605.

Valley Youth Hunter Education Challenge Indoor .22 Rifle Shooting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays at the Towanda American Legion in the indoor shooting range. The first annual Soup-er Bowl Cook-off, a fundraiser hosted by The Friends of the Bradford County Library will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at noon at the Library. Participants will sample and vote on a variety of soups. The fee to taste the samples is $3.00. Funds raised will be used towards the purchase of the Library’s new Bookmobile. The cook with the most votes will win a $10 gift card and a trophy. The Bradford County Library is located on Route 6, one mile west of Burlington. Go Red for Women’s Heart Disease for the Boys Basketball Game, Troy Jr. / Sr. High School. There will be face painting, bandanas and carnations.

Groundhog Day all-you-can-eat Pancake Brunch and Bake Sale is planned from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Union Corners UMC. The cost is $6 for adults, and $3 for age 12 and under. Located at the intersection of James and Water Streets, three miles up the hill from the James Street Bridge.


Team Trivia Contest, 7 p.m.,  (weather permitting) Unitarian Universalist Church of Athens and Sheshequin, 112 North St. in Athens to benefit the Bradford County Humane Society. Admission is $5 per person with a 50 percent return for first place. Teams up to six people; questions will be common knowledge. Snacks will be available for purchase to also benefit the charity. The Liberty Corners United Methodist Church All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Dinner, 5:30 p.m., Pathway Ministry Center, 105 Main St., Towanda. Prices are  $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

The Towanda Senior Citizens meet at noon at the Ferguson Hall at the Wysox Presbyterian Church when Ron Schoonover will entertain the club. Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church will be hosting a benefit dinner from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. to include a full spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings. There will be individually wrapped baked goods for sale at the event and a basket raffle, with all proceeds helping to pay medical expenses related to the birth of preemie twins in our community. The 2019 Peter Levatich Memorial Seminar for Rural Landowners, 9:30 a.m. to noon, Spencer-Van Etten High School on Route 34 in Spencer. Organized by the Southern Finger Lakes Chapter of the N.Y. Forest Owners Association, the theme of this year’s seminar is “Selling Timber from Your Woods: What’s It Worth and How To Do It Right!” Free and open to the public.
