Students in 9th through 12th grades at North Rome Christian School, under the direction of English Language Arts teacher Susan Pifer, recently participated in the inaugural, school-wide Poetry Out Loud competition.

From an online anthology of over 900 poems, each student selected a poem to memorize, and they were then instructed on the elements of successful recitation.  The students presented their poems onstage in front of their peers, teachers, and three official independent judges. Each presenter was judged on physical presence, voice and articulation, dramatic appropriateness, evidence of understanding, and overall performance, as well as accuracy.
