Celebrating agriculture and literacy

Celebrating agriculture and literacyEpiphany School celebrated Ag Literacy Week with a visit from the Bradford-Sullivan County Farm Bureau. Kindergarten and first grade students had story time with Kathy Yoachim. They read Right This Very Minute: A Table-to-Farm Book About Food and Farming. The Farm Bureau generously donated the book to the school's library for all students to enjoy and learn more about our food systems. Provided photo.

Continuing with their celebration of National Ag Day and Ag Literacy Week, the Bradford / Sullivan County Farm Bureau are placing the 2019 Ag Literacy Book of the Year in all elementary school libraries and some town libraries in both counties.

The book is titled, “Right This Very Minute” by Lisl H. Detlefsen. They are often hungry “right this very minute” throughout the day for breakfast, or lunch, or a snack. But do you ever think about what farmers are doing “right this very minute” to ensure we have safe, nutritious and delicious foods when we want them?

Right This Very Minute connects the foods we find ourselves wanting during the course of a day to the work farmers are doing everyday to grow, raise and produce our food.

Books have been placed in H. Austin Snyder Elementary, Lynch Bustin Elementary, SRU Elementary, Sayre Public Library, and Valley View School in Leraysville.
