April is National Volunteer Month, when The Area Agency on Aging celebrates and honors all of the volunteers who serve the community by donating their time, energy, and compassion. Recently, the Susquehanna County Meals on Wheels -Endless Mountains volunteer delivery driver, Alice Carr, was honored with a Volunteer Spotlight award from the Pennsylvania Department of Aging for her outstanding dedication and service.

According to The Area Agency on Aging, Alice has a long history of volunteerism – from Sunday school teaching to Cub Scout Leadership and serving with the 4-H Club, she has served almost 20 years with the meal delivery program serving older adults through B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging.

In a press release, officials with The Area Agency on Aging stated, “Alice has consistently shown her commitment to Meals on Wheels recipients by regularly delivering meals up to five times a week on extensive rural delivery routes. Alice even brings along a shovel during winter months in case meal recipients need help shoveling out of the snow.”

The B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. thanks Alice for her exceptional compassion and devotion, as well as all volunteers; not just during April, but every day of the year.
