Meals on Wheels is recruiting volunteers

According to Meals on Wheels America, 83 percent of low income, food insecure seniors are not receiving the home-delivered meals they need. Locally, Meals on Wheels Endless Mountains and the program’s sponsoring organization, B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (B/S/S/T AAA), are working diligently to improve those statistics.

With the senior population expected to double by 2060, the need for additional funding and volunteerism is increasing accordingly. B/S/S/T AAA strongly advocates for the expansion of funding for Meals on Wheels Endless Mountains, and all meal delivery programs across the country. Additionally, recruitment efforts are underway to establish a vaster group of volunteers willing to give their time in service of older adults across the four counties of Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna, and Tioga.

B/S/S/T AAA urges the community to join the effort to fight for food security for older adults through volunteerism. The volunteer delivery drivers for Meals on Wheels Endless Mountains enjoy flexibility in choosing how much or how little to volunteer, and receive training and mileage reimbursement.
