Forge ‘n Fire Blacksmith Classes at Manley-Bohlayer Heritage Farm

Two Forge ‘n Fire Blacksmith Classes, sponsored by Rekindle the Spirit, will be held at the Manley-Bohlayer Heritage Farm’s Blacksmith shop in East Canton, Pa. (Rt. 414 at East Canton Crossroad) on Saturday, June 2 and Saturday June 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Merle Eiffert, blacksmith and instructor of the class, will be demonstrating the art of blacksmithing, which is taking hot iron heated on a coal fire in a forge and forming the iron into shapes such as door handles, nails, dinner chimes, decorative roses, and wine glass holders.

Participants will be making an item of their choosing during the six-hour session. Anyone wishing to participate in the class should register by May 29 with the coordinator, Gene Kennedy, by calling (570) 673-8144.

A registration fee of $35 is required, and each class is limited to seven participants.

Classes are funded, in part, by the Bradford County United Way.
