It seems that it is Two Rivers, Wisconsin that claims to have served the first ice cream sundae. As the story goes, in 1881 George Hallauer asked Edward C. Berner, the owner of a soda fountain shop to top a dish of ice cream with chocolate sauce that was used only for ice cream sodas. This new concoction cost only a nickel and soon became very popular. But it was sold only on Sundays.
It wasn’t a Sunday, but on June 19, Deb Harer State Farm in Troy hosted a “make your own sundae bar” at their office.
“We are always looking for ways to thank our customers and the community,” said Deb Harer.
June is National Dairy Month, so why not thank them with everyone’s favorite dairy food – ice cream!
