Troy Town Band in concert on June 27

On Thursday, June 27 at 7 p.m., the Troy Town Band will take the stage at the Troy Area High School Memorial Auditorium to present their first Summer Concert.

The band will be under the direction of Larry Gehring. The program will feature a selection of lively marches including National Emblem, Band of America March and Valdres Valdres (Norwegian March).

The Band features local musicians (adults, students, professionals and amateurs) who present several concerts for the community throughout the year.

Larry Gehring is a 1973 graduate of West Chester University. That same year he moved to Northeast Pennsylvania and become the band director at the Northeast Bradford Junior Senior High School. Larry would later become the choral director there.

Since the late 70’s, he has been affiliated with the Wyalusing Adult band, starting as a player under the founding director Kevin Downs and later moving into the position of director. He currently shares the director duties with Bob Shumway. Larry has been a long-time member of the clarinet section with the Troy Town Band and the band is pleased to have him conduct the summer concert.

The community concerts are always free and the public is cordially invited.
