Country music artists come and go, but a true country music legend remains in the hearts and minds of his fans long after his chart topping days have faded. Moe Bandy is one such legend and he’s coming to the Tioga County Fair for two foot-stompin’ shows on Thursday, Aug. 8.
Bandy rose to fame in the late 70’s, early 80’s with his honky-tonk themed songs of drinking, loving, losing and cheating, earning him a multitude of accolades, including the Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards for New Male Vocalist of the Year in 1977, Song of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year in 1980, and Vocal Duo of the Year in 1981, as well as the Vocal Duo of the Year in 1980 by the Country Music Assocation.
Along the way he garnered ten # 1 Hits, 40 Top Ten Hits, 66 Chart Hits, and five Gold Albums. His most notable songs include “Bandy The Rodeo Clown”, “Hank Williams, You Wrote My Life”, “Till I’m Too Old To Die Young”, “Americana”, “It’s A Cheatin’ Situation”, and “Just Good Ol’ Boys”, among dozens of others.
Besides being a successful solo recording artist, he often teamed with fellow country artist Joe Stampley, as one half of the award winning duo best known as “Moe and Joe.”
Bandy later thrilled audiences as one of the prime live attractions in Branson, Missouri. With over 40 albums released to date, Bandy has continued to record, tour, and has even written his autobiography, “Lucky Me,” published in 2018.
