North Street Community Church will once again be hosting Griefshare, a weekly grief seminar / support group. The cycle will begin on Aug. 13, with Loss of a Spouse, a one-time session that deals with the unique challenges associated with the death of a spouse.
The 13-week Griefshare classes will begin a week later. Some of the lessons include: Challenges of Grief, Why, Grief and Your Relationships, Guilt and Anger, and What Do I Live For Now. Because each lesson is self-contained, you can join the group at any time during the cycle.
This is a non-denominational program featuring Christ-centered, biblical teachings. The DVD seminar features nationally respected grief experts and real-life stories, followed by a short time of discussion. Each participant receives a workbook for note taking and personal reflection.
Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends and family have returned to their daily routines. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member or friend. No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling.
You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and that you do not need to live in bondage to your emotions. You will learn valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future.
All community members are invited to attend these groups, which will be held at North Street Community Church, 177 North St., Canton, Pa. Loss of a Spouse will be offered on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 6:30-8 p.m. Griefshare will begin the following Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. and run from Aug. 20 to Nov. 12.
