The Grand Paraders Square Dance Club hosted its annual S’more Fun Dance Weekend July 19-21 in Canton, Pa., and at the Firemen’s Field. Friday dancers met at The Park Hotel for dinner followed by an evening of square and round dancing. Jeff Bobst of Cogan Station, Pa., the square dance caller, and Lisa Treichler of Penn Yan, N.Y., the round dance cuer, directed the dancing for the weekend.
Saturday morning activities included workshops for both round and square dancing led by the perspective caller/cuer. A game of “crazy bingo” and a potluck dinner featuring “trash can turkey” that was prepared by Dale and Marilyn Palmer rounded out the afternoon. The evening dance was followed by a treat of homemade ice cream, prepared by Faith Sherman, Cindy Walton and Sandy Swick of the Grand Paraders, and a campfire. A church service and a trail out dance were held on Sunday morning.
Friendships were made and renewed as dancers from as far away as Massachusetts and upstate New York gathered with local Pennsylvania dancers to have a S’more Fun Weekend.
The Grand Paraders are a modern western square dance club based in Troy, Pa. They welcome people from the area who would like to learn more about square dancing to join them.
