Its that time of year when families begin to shop for school clothing for the upcoming school year. Due to the high cost of clothing and a lack of income, many families struggle to provide new school clothing for their children.
Each year volunteers from the local Salvation Army stand kettles to raise money to help those in need in their local community. These funds are used to help struggling families with various emergency assistance such as school clothing.
On Aug. 14 they were able to provide 30 children with new school clothing. This program is still accepting applications and will remain open until Aug. 30.
For Back to School assistance, please contact The Salvation Army Towanda Service Extension Center at (570) 265-5932. The caseworker will set up a time for you to come into the office and the assistance will be provided by using a Salvation Army voucher written to Kmart in Wysox.
Please note that you will need to provide a valid ID, proof of income, proof of monthly bills, and proof of residency showing that you live in Bradford County.
