The Friends of Mt. Pisgah State Park honored servicemen and women at their annual “Patriots in the Park” event, held last Saturday.
The celebration was kicked off by a performance by the Penn York Highlanders. The VFW Post 8675 and Cub Scout Troop 30 presented the colors. The Troy High School Chamber Choir led by Sydney MacDonald, provided performances of the National Anthem and America the Beautiful.
Command Sergeant Major, U.S. Army retired, Darryl Jannone was the keynote speaker at the event and encouraged all to continue to “Make it Matter.”
There were four Quilts of Valor (QOV) presented to veterans Joseph Kozak, Clyde Seeley, Robert Smith, and Vernon Perry. In addition, Representatives Clint Owlett and Tina Pickett honored the Quilt of Valor recipients with a presentation of medals.
The Troy High School Cross Country team and National Honor Society members assisted with serving lunch to the participants.
