The National Life Chain Event in downtown Canton will be held this year on Sunday, Oct. 6, beginning at 2 p.m. The event will last for one hour.
The National Life Chain is a peaceful, prayerful public witness of pro-life Americans standing for 60 minutes in prayer for our nation and an end to abortion. It is a visual statement of solidarity by the Christian community proclaiming that abortion kills children and that the Church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception.
Canton area coordinator for the event is Denny Vermilya. He is asking that local participants be at the downtown mini-park no later than 1:45 p.m. for instructions. The location of the Life Chain will be on Main and Troy Streets.
Participants are asked to bring water if needed and a chair may be used if unable to stand for the duration. The event will take place rain or shine.
Thousands of Americans will be participating in over 1,750 locations nationwide. Other locations in Bradford, Sullivan, and Tioga County are involved as well.
Visit www.LifeChain.net for a list of additional locations in the area. If you have any questions about the Canton / Troy event, call (570) 673-8154.
