Towanda fifth-grader Aubry Winterringer has volunteered with Meals on Wheels Endless Mountains for some time, riding along on meal delivery routes with her grandmother, who works for the hosting agency – B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging.

When deciding what to do to earn her Girl Scout Bronze Award in Community Service, it was an easy choice. Aubry set up displays at the Wysox K-Mart and Hurley’s Grocery Store in Towanda and spoke to customers about the need for funds and volunteers to support the program. She gave 27 hours of her time and raised $405, which will provide more than 60 meals to local seniors; she even wrote a letter to Ellen DeGeneres, though she is still waiting to hear from the charitable talk show host.

Aubry thanks all those who donated to the cause, and hopes the community will continue to help her toward her goal of $1,000 by donating to B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging in her name.

The B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc. is funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging; the United Way of Bradford County; the Lycoming County United Way serving Wellsboro and southern Tioga County; the United Way of Susquehanna County and the Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna, and Tioga County Commissioners.
