The Blossburg Elementary School Student Council has sponsored a food drive for the past few years and donated the items to the Blossburg UMC Food Pantry. This is normally held between Thanksgiving and Christmas to help restock the pantry after the holiday rush, but this year there was a higher demand for the food in the area, so the Food Pantry needed the items earlier than usual. The students unanimously decided to hold it early and wasted no time in gathering donations.
There was a friendly classroom competition to try to get as many students to participate as possible and the school collected over 100 items more than they did for the drive last year.
“We always make it a classroom competition to try to get as many students excited about it as possible,” the organizers stated in a press release.
The Blossburg Elementary School Student Council would like to thank the students, parents, faculty and staff for their generosity and for helping them exceed their goal.
