Each year, in October, Bradford-Tioga Head Start, Inc. is host two resource fairs – one in Bradford County and the other in Tioga County. These events provide an opportunity for Bradford-Tioga Head Start, Inc. families to learn about the resources in their community and to connect with them individually, all in one location.
During the events, various agencies provide an overview of the services they offer. They then meet with families individually to discuss in more detail how they can work together. The event also allows agencies to network with one another; to gain a better understanding of each program in the community and to make a strong connection, which then provides a solid foundation for our community as a whole.
This year Resource Fairs were held for Tioga County families at the Mansfield Fire Hall while Bradford County families were invited to the Troy Fire Hall. Thirteen agencies and 46 families attended the event held in Tioga County; 11 agencies and 65 families attended the event held in Bradford County.
Some of the agencies in attendance included Domestic Relations, the YMCA, Representative Clint Owlett’s Office, TreHAB, WIC, Early Intervention, North Penn Legal Service, Amerihealth, PA Career Link, Bradford Tioga Housing Authority, and Parent to Parent, just to name a few. Families enrolled in the Bradford Tioga Head Start, Inc. programs and Bradford Tioga Head Start Staff were also in attendance.
The Resource Fair provides an opportunity for agencies, staff and families to work together towards strength-based interactions. These partnerships support parents’ roles as valued community members and their progress toward their goals for themselves and their children. Community partners provide tangible child development supports and resources that families and staff want and need. The resources include parents’ educational advancement, economic mobility, and other aspects of family well being.
