The Tioga County Historical Society (TCHS) will be hosting the annual quilt exhibit from Feb. 8 through March 28 at the Tioga County Historical Society’s Museum, located at 110 Front St. in Owego. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Endless Mountains Maple Syrup Producers Association held its annual banquet and Maple Ambassador Contest on Jan. 18, 2020 at the Towanda Elks Club located in Towanda, Pa.

Contestants presented a demonstration of the making of maple syrup to the judges and audience showing their knowledge of maple syrup making, confidence, and desire to represent the Maple Syrup industry. Amanda Iveson was crowned as the 2020 Maple Ambassador for the Endless Mountains Maple Syrup Producers Association.

Amanda will be seen throughout the area during the year promoting Maple Syrup Products. She will go on the Pennsylvania State Maple Tour in October to compete for the State Title of Pennsylvania Maple Ambassador. The 2020 Pennsylvania Maple tour is being held in Somerset County on Oct. 9-10, 2020. If you would like to see Amanda at your promotional events or to have her speak to your group (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, school classes, Agricultural groups, etc.), please reach out to her at (570) 507-1579. She is excited to help promote such a wonderful natural and local product along with the art of maple syrup production and the maple business itself.

Amanda Iveson is the daughter of Bill and Mary Iveson from Susquehanna Depot and is a senior at Susquehanna Community Jr. / Sr. high school. She has been in 4-H for 13 years and is a member of the county board. Being very active in her school activities, she participates in cross-country, for which she was captain for two years; she plays basketball and throws in track and field, where she was a captain for one year. She is also active in the student body, yearbook staff, school news and tech crew, and works at the food pantry and in the new Inspiration lab. She is a People to People Student Ambassador alumnus, participates in her church choir, and helps seasonally at Hellstead Manor in Hallstead, Pa. 

The Ambassador program was sponsored with a grant from REPSOL Oil and Gas USA.
