The Trojan Archery Team is now in their second year. They are under the direction of physical education instructors Gary Ward and Christina Sheeley. Derek Parks from Mt. Pisgah State Park is the team archery guru; he aids the team in perfecting shooting technique and bow maintenance. Anything archery – he’s their guy.

They are pleased to have two teams this year – a Jr. High and a Sr. High team. Both teams have been practicing since September during the club period at the high school, and have added Wednesdays at the Troy Sale Barn and Thursdays after school.

The teams are planning to attend two qualifying tournaments in January and February with their ultimate goal of qualifying for the State Shoot in March at Penn State University.

In a press release, team officials stated, “We are fortunate to have the Troy Area School Administration support; the support of the Sylvania Lions Club, and the Armenia Mountain Spurs Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation have been generous sponsors again this year.”

The Armenia Mountain Spurs Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will be hosting their Annual Banquet on March 27, 2020. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and dinner will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Troy Fire Hall, located in Troy, Pa.
