New Covenant Academy (NCA) was recently awarded $48,240 from the Wellsboro Community Foundation for a new community playground outside of the school located in Mansfield, Pa.

Headmaster Kjell Fenn, stated, “This is an amazing opportunity for our school to reach our local community as well as provide updated, safe equipment for our students at NCA. We are very grateful for this opportunity.”

Board member of the academy, Ruth Clarke of Mansfield, completed the grant application process and secured all the equipment quotes from different companies. The playground equipment is already ordered and the playground will be built this spring.

There are a few remaining pieces to be secured for the playground to include a few benches, a shade structure, and a picnic table. These pieces will be at the school’s annual fundraiser, the NCA Benefit and Auction, planned for Friday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m. For anyone interested in helping the school complete this project, they are welcome to attend the benefit and help raise funds to secure these items.
