When the pandemic hit in March, and businesses were closed down, The Troy Pennysaver Plus had to temporarily suspend its print edition. Things shut down to the extent that nothing was open, except for essentials, and stay at home orders were put in place.
In the meantime, we, like others, waited to see where things were going as one by one businesses, bars, restaurants, and small merchants closed their doors. Events also rolled in, one by one, with a cancellation notice attached.
When we got word earlier in the month that we were returning to our print edition, we were more than happy and ready to start producing and delivering our publication to our readers once again.
During the time of closure, however, we were able to stay connected at www.troypennysaver.com, as well as on Facebook. This small connection offered a glimmer of hope that some day things will return to what we knew as normal.
Now, and back in circulation, we would love to hear from you; hear your stories; learn what you did to sustain and cope during this pandemic; and what we are doing now to change with the times.
If you have any news you would like to share with us, you can email to email@example.com. We welcome press releases, events, and story ideas.
Stay safe, and stay healthy. Maybe I’ll even see you at the Troy Town Cruisers Cruise-In, held every Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. through September in downtown Troy.
Most events have been cancelled, but not all! I’ll be sure to get my 1973 convertible VW Bug cleaned up for the drive!
Wendy Post is the Editor of The Owego Pennysaver and The Troy Pennysaver Plus.
