Troy Lions Club reports successful Tournament!

On June 26, the Troy Lions Club held its 25th Annual Golf Tournament (recently renamed to honor Lion Richard “Chico” Carlonas). With everything surrounding COVID-19, the club did not know what to expect, but wanted to continue the tradition.

The committee decided that it would be best to not ask for donations during the current pandemic, but instead the committee wanted to pay it forward and recognize all the great businesses that have sponsored their tournament in the past.

With this being said, the club was overwhelmed by the donations that still were sent. The tournament went on without any problems, as the golfers followed all the social distancing rules set by the Corey Creek.

In a press release signed by the Troy Lions Club Board of Directors, they wrote, “With 24 teams present at the tournament and easily one of the most beautiful days we have had this summer, the club was truly blessed by the club members that helped, golfers, friends, Corey Creek and all our local businesses.”

The release continues, “This is our thank you to everyone involved. As many organizations have struggled to keep membership levels afloat, the Troy Lions Club continues to grow with membership age under 45 at the highest level it has been in decades. This just shows how important service is in our great little town of Troy. Without the Troy Community and its businesses none of the programs that we complete throughout the year would happen.”
