The Heritage Garden Club held a zoom meeting on Monday, Dec. 7. In attendance were Barb Andrus, Sharon Brown, Fran Gardiner, Vivian Hall, Beverly Hunter, Charlotte Lyon, Laura Steele, Kate Walters, Judy Warn, and Debbie Wheeland.
It has become a tradition for members of the club to festively decorate Troy’s business district with greens, ornaments, and snowmen, and many of the members remarked that they had received many compliments from the town’s residents.
After a short business meeting and determining that a quorum was present, the club members voted on a new slate of officers for 2021: Barb Andrus, president; Laura Steele, vice president; Holly Keegan, recording secretary; and Vivian Hall, treasurer.
The Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania is offering 13 scholarships to students who plan to further their education in horticulture, floriculture, landscape architecture, conservation, forestry, botany, biology, agronomy, plant pathology, environmental control, city planning, land management, and/or allied subjects. Each scholarship award is for a minimum of $1,000.
Only high school, college, or graduate students who are residents of Pennsylvania are eligible and must be sponsored by a federated garden club.
Heritage Garden Club is pleased to have sponsored three local students in the past who have been awarded scholarships.
Applications are due Jan. 27, 2021. For more information, contact Barb Andrus at (570) 297-3043.
