Goodies For Our Troops, currently located at 87 Main St. in Wellsboro, Pa., has found a new home, and is looking for volunteers to help with the move next month. Their new location will be at 130 Main St. in Wellsboro, Pa.
In a press release, the organization stated, “We will be moving stuff from our current location starting next week, and the big stuff that’s left, weather permitting, we will be moving on March 20, with an alternate date of March 27.”
Craig Devenport is encouraging members of the congregation and Wellsboro Rotary Club and Wellsboro Lions Club to help with the big move, and noted they would appreciate the help of any pick up trucks and hand dollies, as well as muscles to move the big stuff.
They plan to start the move on the March date at 9 a.m., and anticipate finishing around noon.
If you can lend a hand, call (570) 662-5601 or email to Goodies@ptd.net.
The organizers also want to thank Craig Devenport, who they state has put in countless hours coordinating all of this, and Pastor Mike Birbeck, Session and the congregation of the First Presbyterian Church for being such good Samaritans and providing their lower meeting room for Goodies For Our Troops.
Organizers stated, “We can never thank them enough for all they’re doing for us! They’ve put in all new LED lighting, are putting in a new entrance door, cleaned out a storage room, and so many other things for us. We also thank the other organizations who had been using the room so much for their willingness to move so we can continue our mission of putting smiles on our #Heroes’ – #Military and #Veterans and Their Families – faces with care packages from Goodies For Our Troops.
The group will be using the back entrance on the Gmeiner Center side off the back parking lot, and down six stairs to the room. The new address will be Goodies For Our Troops, 130 Main St., Lower Meeting Room, Wellsboro, Pa. 16901. Their phone number and email will stay the same, (570) 662-5601 and Goodies@ptd.net.
They plan to continue their Monday, Tuesday and Thursday packaging events, from 9 to 11 a.m., weather permitting, and will continue to welcome groups for “field trips” at other times. Due to COVID-19, they are limited to ten people total at any time in their space, so participation is by appointment only.
They will also continue to abide by all CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines that require wearing a mask, social distancing, taking temperatures on entrance, and signing in by giving a phone number and email or snail mail address.
