When people came to visit Brian and Pamela McKenney at Red Maple Ranch along Hanks Road in West Burlington, they commented on the striking beauty of their barn.
The McKenneys have owned Red Maple Ranch since the fall of 2017.
“They really fell in love with the barn and the property,” said Sophia Hart, their daughter.
When they realized that their barn held so much history and how much people loved it, the McKenneys decided they wanted to share it. They began some remodeling to turn it into a beautiful wedding venue.
“My mom and dad have had such a wonderful marriage and they love meeting couples who are about to begin their marriages,” said Hart. “They love hearing each couple’s story.”
After remodeling, including new windows, floors, adding modern bathrooms, getting everything cleaned up and up to code. They put in a bar, chandeliers, and a fire pit.
The barn, with its indoor silo, has two floors that can be used for the wedding and reception areas. It sits on 30 acres with a view of the mountains, offering a beautiful backdrop for any wedding.
“Very photogenic place,” said Dan Wagner after he had been there for their Family Fall Festival last October.
Maple Ridge at Red Maple Ranch opened in the fall of 2018. According to Hart, who coordinates most of their events, they offer a complete wedding package that includes the rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, reception, florist, catering, D.J., and even a couples’ massage. It’s their “Stress Free Package.”
“Wedding planning can be stressful,” explained Hart. “We want to make it fun and enjoyable.”
Courtnie Beers has been planning her wedding at Maple Ridge.
“I love Pam,” said Beers. “She’s amazing to work with. She goes above and beyond.”
Beers is planning to be married in October. She has been going through all the planning with McKenney since last July.
“She has made happen all my visions that I’ve really wanted,” said Beers. “She has helped me with everything. She’s like family.”
As for the barn, Beers said, “I love it! I fell in love with it the first time I saw it.”
Hart explained that a couple doesn’t have to use that “Stress Free” package.
“We pride ourselves on being able to customize our packages for any budget,” said Hart. “Tables and chairs are included with all packages.”
They offer linens, plates, decorations and more. These items can be rented even if someone isn’t getting married at their barn.
In addition to weddings, Maple Ridge also does other events including elopements, micro weddings, baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, and retirements.
They offer a special anniversary dinner for couples to come back a year after they were married at Maple Ridge. It’s private for that couple.
According to Hart, this summer they will have something new – their “Picnic Package” offering a luxury picnic.
Starting May 1, their farmhouse will be available to rent through Airbnb. They will also be extending the barn venue to include the house for weddings. Couples can stay there or families of the bride and groom can stay there.
On Sunday, April 18 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., Maple Ridge will be hosting a bridal show including a bridal fashion show. La Bella Rae will be showing their fashions. Other vendors, including photographers, caterers and salon services will be there along with a live D. J. They will have wedding giveaways.
Later this year, they will have their Fall Festival on Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Maple Ridge offers their venue from May through October, with October as their busiest time. For more information call (570) 772-2962, email firstname.lastname@example.org, visit www.mapleridgeatredmapleranch.com, or find them on Facebook or Instagram.
