Mansfield Growers Market to be Topic of MU Presentation

The Frederick Douglass Institute (FDI) at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania will present a panel discussion on the Mansfield local Growers Market Thursday, September 2, at 7 p.m. in Straughn Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

“The summer reading for incoming freshman is Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, which promotes the consumption of locally grown foods, so we’ve decided to ‘grow our own’ event,” FDI Director Lynn Pifer said.

The panel will feature speakers from MU and the Mansfield Growers Market.

The Market, organized by St. James Episcopal Church in Mansfield, operates every Friday from May to October 1 on the church grounds, 30 E. Wellsboro Street. It features local vendors, educational booths, activities and entertainment.
