First Citizens National Bank, as part of their continued commitment to educating our youth, has made a $1,070.00 donation to Bradford-Tioga Head Start to help them participate in their fifth year of the Pennsylvania "One Book" Campaign.

The goal of this program is to promote early literacy development by encouraging parents and other family members to read with children daily and engage them in the story. The donation will be used to purchase this year’s featured early childhood book, What Treasure!, by Jane and Will Hillenbrand. In April, during the "Week of the Young Child", a soft cover copy of the book will be distributed to each Bradford-Tioga Head Start family, and a hardcover copy will be distributed to each Head Start classroom.

"Any program that promotes the development of young children and encourages families to read together is a very worthy cause," stated Randall E. Black, CEO and President. "The development of our youth is everyone’s job and something we take seriously at First Citizens. In addition to the financial support we provide to a large number of educational organizations and programs, we also visit local schools each year teaching kids the importance of being good savers. We also work with the local high schools and University students to understand the value of building good credit for their future."
